SHRUBS

For a balanced ecosystem with high wildlife value, start with keystone plants, then build in diversity. Prunus (plum/cherry), willow, blueberry and alder are the top four keystone species of shrubs in central Ohio. When choosing shrubs, diverse sizes and types will create layers in the landscape that offer a variety of cover and nesting sites.
