This member of the Figwort family has an erect, clumping form topped by racemes of deep pink, two-lipped flowers resembling turtle heads or snapdragon blooms that appear late summer into fall. Pink turtlehead is ideal for rain gardens, woodland settings, and moist sites along bogs, ponds, or streams. It can also be used in borders and mass plantings with moister soils. 
 
Plant Characteristics:
Grows 2-4' tall. 
 
Prefers part sun or dappled shade and protection from hot afternoon sun.
 
Prefers light, rich soils with average to wet conditions. 
 
Blooms between July and September. 
 
Wildlife Value:
Host plant for larvae of Saunder's sallow, turtlehead borer, verbena bud, and The Baltimore moths. Attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
