This erect perennial glows with yellow-and-orange flowers and masses of pale green foliage. A denizen of wetlands and moist woods, fringed loosestrife thrives in part shade and rich soils, and it also tolerates full sun and seasonal flooding. The star-shaped flowers bloom a few at a time mid-summer to early fall and produce a floral oil, rather than pollen, to attract pollinators.
Native habitats include wetlands, swamps, wet prairies, thickets, woods, and stream banks.
