This elegant perennial grows up to 4 feet tall with spires of lavender to blue flowers from summer into fall. It thrives in full or part sun and a range of consistently moist soil types, and it tolerates occasionally wet or dry conditions. It's considered a short-lived perennial, but it survives year to year by producing copious amount of tiny seeds. To aid the seeds' survival, gently rake around the base of the plant each fall and refrain from mulching the plant.
