Depending on growing conditions, this wildflower may act as an annual, biennial, or short-lived perennial. Bright-yellow, 3" daisy-like flowers with dark centers grow singly atop 1-3' tall stems. 

Stems and leaves are covered with hairs that give it a slightly rough texture. May be aggressive in ideal conditions with little competition from other plants.

Grows 1-3' tall.

 

Prefers full or part sun.

 

Grows in dry to moist, well-drained soils.

 

Blooms in summer and fall.

 

Wildlife Value:

Host plant for 23 species of Lepidoptera larvae, including gorgone checkerspot, bordered patch butterfly, and five specialist moths. Birds eat the seeds. Deer resistant.
