This shrub-like woodland native has extremely showy, feathery plumes of white flowers that rise above dark green foliage in summer. It reaches 4-6’ in height and does best in moist, rich soils in part shade. It can be sited in full sun as long as it gets enough moisture. It serves as an effective backdrop for shade gardens and borders or makes a bold accent plant.

Soil: Medium, moist to wet.

 

Flowers: White clusters 6-24” long May-June.
